This workshop will focus on teaching opinion and argument writing to help students meet Common Core standards. It will be held on March 9th from 9am to 12pm at Armstrong Atlantic State University. The workshop will provide teachers strategies and activities to introduce writing opinions and arguments supported by evidence. Participants will discuss and participate in oral, written, collaborative, and individual activities to improve argument writing.

March 9 Opinion & Argument Writing to Meet Common Core State Standards
This workshop for K-12 teachers of all content areas will focus on the steps and
strategies for teaching opinion and argument writing to help student meet Common
Core State Standard #1 in Writing in all disciplines and grade levels.
In this interactive workshop, participants will view, discuss, and participate in a
variety of oral, written, collaborative, and individual activities to introduce writers to
the tasks of forming opinions and claims and supporting them with evidence and
warrants as well as writing workshop lessons that will improve argument writings.
The workshop will be held 9:00am-noon at AASU University Hall 125.
